Currently,
our organization, the Princeton Battlefield
Society, is fighting to save the last 35 acres of battleground
which have not
already
been
lost
to development.
The original battle spanned over a mile and a half of land,
all of which has been developed save for the 85 acres which
became the current state park (outlined in green)
and the 35 acres that are now threatened (outlined
in yellow). The Institute of Advanced Studies, the owner
of these last
few precious
acres and
which encompass the center point of the fighting, intends
to build single family housing on it. Not only would this
forever destroy the historical record but this land lies
immediately adjacent to the State Park. If housing were
to be built there, it would also ruin the integrity of
the current park.
Please
help us save this hallowed ground for future generations
who need to be reminded
of
what
our forefathers sacrificed for our freedom. Especially
in this time of war, we cannot turn our back on the men
who have died to build this great nation.
